Online relationships are real relationships. Here's how edate.cc protects you, and how to protect yourself.
Tools you have
- Block — from any profile or chat. You unmatch instantly, messages stop both ways, and you won't see each other again. They aren't notified.
- Report — from a profile, the chat menu, or a single message. Reports are reviewed by a person. The reported member isn't told who reported them.
- Unmatch — end a conversation at any time.
- Pause discovery — hide from new people without losing your matches.
- Discord stays private — your handle is hidden until you choose to share it with a specific match, and you can stop sharing.
Age
edate.cc is strictly 18+. Everyone enters a date of birth, under-18 sign-ups are blocked and can't retry with a different date, and “may be under 18” reports are prioritised. A typed date of birth isn't proof of age, so we're adding stronger age assurance before public launch. If you think someone is underage, report them — don't engage.
Spotting scams and catfishing
- Requests for money, gift cards, Nitro or crypto — especially with a sad or urgent story — are scams. Report them.
- Pushing you to move to another app immediately, or to click links, is a red flag.
- Profiles that feel too perfect, avoid voice calls forever, or have inconsistent stories may not be who they say.
- Never share passwords, login codes or your Discord token. No one legitimate will ask.
Sharing safely
- Take your time before sharing your Discord, socials, face, voice or location.
- Be careful with photos: backgrounds can reveal where you live. We strip GPS data from uploads, but not what's visible in the picture.
- Never share intimate images. Sextortion is common — if it's happening to you, stop replying, don't pay, save evidence, report, and reach out for help.
- If you ever meet offline: public place, tell a friend, arrange your own transport.
If you need help now
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number. If you're struggling, you can find a crisis line in your country through findahelpline.com. For a problem on edate.cc, report it in the app or contact support@edate.cc.
How moderation works
Moderators review reports, prioritising underage and self-harm concerns. To investigate a report or a reasonable suspicion of abuse, they may read the conversations involved. They must write down why before opening any chat, every review is logged, and every action (warning, content removal, suspension, ban) requires a written reason. If you get a warning, you'll see it at the top of the app. See our Community Guidelines for what's allowed.
