Privacy Policy
This explains what edate.cc stores about you, why, who can see it, and what control you have. We try to collect as little as possible.
What we get from Discord
When you sign in, Discord shares your Discord user ID, username, display name, avatar and email address (the “identify” and “email” permissions). We do not request or receive your messages, servers, friend list or any permission to act on your behalf. We never post, join servers or send messages for you.
What you give us
- Date of birth — to confirm you're 18+. Stored privately; only your age is shown. Nobody else, including other members, can see the date.
- Profile — display name, pronouns, gender (optional), bio, images, interests, tags, time zone, broad region, availability and what you're looking for. Visible to members who are eligible to see you, your matches, and moderators.
- Preferences — who you want to see (age range, genders, region). Private to you; used to match you.
- Discord handle to share and links — private. Links are visible to your matches; your Discord handle only to matches you choose to share it with.
- Activity — likes, passes, matches, messages, blocks and reports.
Who can see what
- Likes and passes. Passes are private — nobody is told you passed on them. When you like someone, they can see how many people liked them; if they have edate+, they can also see that you liked them (only while you could still match). Everything else stays private until you match.
- Read receipts. If your match has edate+, they can see when you last opened your conversation with them (shown as “Seen” under their messages).
- Photo verification (optional). If you choose to get verified, you take two live photos copying poses we give you. Only moderators see them, to check you're who your profile says you are — the same person as your photos and, if your profile says woman or non-binary, that you match it. We delete the photos as soon as a decision is made and keep the result (for example “Verified gender”) plus a log of who decided. We don't use automated face recognition. You can appeal any decision through support.
- Voice notes you send in chat are stored privately and can only be played by the two of you (and moderators reviewing a report or reasonable suspicion, as described in our Terms).
- Payments. If you subscribe to edate+, Stripe processes your payment. Your card details go straight to Stripe — we never see or store them. We keep your Stripe customer and subscription IDs and your plan status.
- Profile views. We count how many different people saw your card or opened your profile each day, so edate+ members can see weekly totals. Nobody — including you — is ever shown who viewed whom.
- Edited and unsent messages. When you edit or unsend a message, your match no longer sees the original, but we keep it privately so moderators can review reports. It is deleted along with the conversation.
- Songs on profiles. A member's “Now playing” song shows its title and cover art from Spotify. Spotify's player only loads if you press play; from then on Spotify's own privacy policy applies.
- Messages and chat images are visible to the two people in the conversation. Our moderators may also review a conversation when it has been reported or when we reasonably suspect a breach of our terms (for example harassment, scams or an underage member). Each review requires a written reason and is logged. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted.
- Blocking hides both profiles from each other and ends any conversation.
- We remove location and camera metadata (EXIF/GPS) from images you upload.
Why we use your data
- To run the service: show profiles, match people, deliver messages (performance of our agreement with you).
- To keep people safe: age eligibility, moderation, abuse and spam prevention, enforcing our terms (legitimate interests and legal obligations).
- To secure the service: session management, rate limiting and error logs that exclude message content.
- To stop invite abuse: when you open your invite page or sign up through an invite, we store a one-way, salted fingerprint of your network address (never the address itself) and check your Discord account's age, so people can't earn free boosts by inviting themselves.
We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.
Service providers
edate.cc is built on Supabase (database, authentication, file storage and realtime) and is hosted on a cloud hosting provider. They process data on our behalf under their terms. The specific providers, hosting regions and international transfer safeguards will be listed here before public launch.
How long we keep it
- Your account data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account we delete your profile, images, preferences, likes, matches and messages immediately.
- Reports and moderation records may be kept after deletion with your identity removed, to prevent repeat abuse and to meet legal obligations.
- Backups held by our infrastructure provider expire on their own schedule.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your data and to object to some processing. You can edit your profile and delete your account yourself at any time. For anything else, contact support@edate.cc.
Age
edate.cc is not for anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to a minor we remove it.
Changes
We'll update this page and tell you about material changes before they take effect.
